Under the minimal supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the following essential functions:
Essential Functions:

• Maintain accounting database systems to support company’s after-market aviation parts business
• Support Accounting Manager and VP of Accounting and Corporate Controller to ensure a five day month-end close process is achieved monthly
• Review and maintain all journal entries and/or schedules prepared by staff accountant
• Assist in preparation and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management
• Partner with Accounting Manager and Senior Cost Accountant to ensure procedures are adequate to calculate and record inventory and cost of goods in general ledger monthly
• Coordinate and support periodic audits, such as but not limited to: internal QA and auditors, external accountants, and financial institutions, including physical inventory audits and accounting reviews
• Utilizing aviation industry accounting knowledge, system and software skills, perform and oversee month-end tasks and account reconciliations of balance sheet accounts 
• Ensure monthly sales reconciliation between sales data to general ledger/financial database
• Record/reconcile monthly cash activities in bank module to bank statement for all bank accounts
• Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable general ledger balances agree to detail ledger balances (aging reports); if out of balance, then perform reconciliation
• Partner with fellow accountants to tie out intercompany receivables and payables every month
• Analyze, review and amortize prepaid expenses, deposits and other assets, as appropriate, such as but not limited to:
  o Business insurance / workers compensation
  o Aircraft / inventory 
  o Rent 
• Record fixed asset purchases, dispositions, gains/losses on dispositions, and post depreciation expense
• Prepare/maintain fixed asset roll forward schedules
• Record monthly adjusting or reclassing journal entries  for accrued expenses, such as but not limited to:
  o Goods received not invoiced 
  o Credit cards
  o Payroll / payroll taxes /commissions /401k match / PTO / VTO / health insurance/ workers compensation
  o Legal/professional fees
  o Rebate
  o Capital lease interest expense
• Ensure all clearing accounts have a zero balance at month-end
• Manage and support accounting Sage 300 software applications to ensure accuracy of data
• Assist in all audits, such as but not limited to:
  o Year-end financial audit
  o Bank collateral audit
  o Inventory appraisal audit
  o Sales tax audit
  o Property tax audit
  o Business insurance/workers comp audit
  o 401k audit
• Other duties as assigned     

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting required
• 5 years accounting experience highly preferred, 1 year minimum required.
• Working knowledge of system integration between Quantum, Doc-Link Smart Client, and Sage 300 ERP or similar systems is required
• Working knowledge of Laserfiche for journal entry workflow is desirable
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel (e.g. Index-match, pivot tables and creation of formulae) is required
