Director of Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives develops and executes strategic organizational plans, operational goals, and performance metrics that drive growth and productivity. This includes facilitating strategic, collaborative, and special projects among key members across the organization or with external stakeholders. This position also supports the Operations Division of Unical Aviation including warehouse operations at City of Industry and Bloomington, Unical 145 and Unical MRO in San Bernardino.

Essential Functions:

  • Liaison with upper management to assist with development of high level strategic planning to accomplish the company mission.
  • Provide leadership guidance, planning, directing and coordinating within the Operations Division of Unical Aviation for warehouse operations at City of Industry and Bloomington, Unical 145 and Unical MRO in San Bernardino.
  • Maintain the integrity of inventory, ensuring the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of each department is aligned with the Quality Management System and overall company objectives.
  • Project management responsibilities include but are not limited to implementation of production reports; inventory management; identifying trends; analyzing variances; resolving problems; developing warehouse operations systems improvements; planning and managing product storage layout requirements.
  • Coordinate objectives for all warehouse operations including but not limited to Shipping, Regular Receiving, Stock Check, Order Control, Cycle Count, Lot Receiving, Woodshop, Unical 145 and Unical MRO.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures in accordance with applicable QMS, safety standards, and other regulatory requirements; completing audits as needed;  initiating, preparing and completing corrective actions; monitoring production and quality service standards.
  • Planning operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements to support yearly sales plan; preparing an annual budget for labor costing/hiring; scheduling/recommending expenditures for supplies/tools/equipment;
  • Communicate necessary support functions with Sales, QA, HR, IT, Accounting, Finance departments and other UA companies.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in operations management or aviation industry
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Industry relevant production experience
  • Computer skills and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of business and management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices
