General Manager, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul
Division:Unical 145
  
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the group Chief Operating Officer, the GM, MRO role’s primary function is to set, drive and implement the strategy of the organization as set by the Unical group Board of Directors.

As head of the site senior management team, the General Manager will be key in establishing the strategic direction of the Unical 145 Arizona facility to align departments to the needs of its customers and shareholders.

The General manager will also be responsible for ensuring Unical 145 Arizona’s culture and its continued development of employees.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary and strategic leadership for the organization. Responsible for establishing and measuring the company’s short-term goals and long-term strategies.
  • Accountable for the financial success of Unical 145 Arizona. Financial accountability for the site’s performance and operation. Ensure site meets or exceeds budget.
  • Deliver on all short-, medium- and long-term operational performance. Leader responsible for customer delivery and expectations for costs and schedule while maximizing a culture of quality and safety. Identify and maximize new opportunities which align to Unical 145 Arizona’s core capabilities. These may be in form of product types or commercial offerings, particular attention to growth in the “outside Unical group repairs” sector (3rd party repairs).
  • Responsible for shareholder value performance.
  • Develop the company’s top level key performance objectives, including financial goals, operational performance metrics and operating budgets. Ensure key performance objectives are measured, monitored and met.
  • Responsible for all regulatory compliance, risk mitigation originating within the facility.
  • Accountable for all aspects of personnel. Ensures that company resources are properly allocated and deployed to effectively meet the overall goals and strategies of the company.
  • Develop and foster a positive, winning culture and build a team that supports the company values.
  • Proactively drive best in class performance of the site and its resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other associations, industry and government officials in the best interest of achieving the company’s goals. Develop teaming or partnerships arrangements as required to support the company’s strategic direction.
  • Develop and lead the senior staff team, including organizational structure, professional development, motivation, performance evaluation, discipline, compensation, personnel policies and procedures.
  • Represent company internally and externally as the company’s subject expert on component MRO related matters. Represent Unical Mesa site in cross-division activities.
  • Act as EASA / FAA liaison
  • Ability to specify, create and interpret reports for use in communication both upward to the wider Unical group and disseminate to Unical 145 Arizona staff.
  • Evaluate and enacting upon the outcome of “make Vs. buy” with regard to processes or services required by Unical 145 Arizona
  • Risk management from a financial, physical (H&SE) and Environmental perspective

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Aviation or relevant discipline
  • 10 years of experience as a GM or “C” suite position in component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.
  • Demonstrative achievements in a GM or CFO role
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding at both strategic and tactical operating levels
  • Strong people management skills
  • Knowledge and extensive use of lean principles and “Agile” philosophy at an operational level
  • 5 years experience of P&L accountability

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Aerospace MRO marketplace
  • Sales experience
  • Technical Aerospace product knowledge
  • Prince 2 or equivalent project management experience
  • Experience in running a production facility.
  • Familiarity and understanding with the Aerospace USM market, including commercial understanding of how to maximize revenue to exploit potential market trends within the sector relevant to MRO.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in both an office and shop floor environment.

     

    Working Conditions:

  • Office based at the Unical 145 Arizona facility. Flexible hours with a minimum of 40 hours per week in line with business needs

 

Travel:

  • Domestic and international travel as required to visit customers, represent Unical at Trade Shows and activities with other Unical divisions.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
