Environment Health and Safety Leader
Division:Unical Aviation
  
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Unical is currently seeking an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Leader. This position will be an integral part of establishing a culture of compliance and safety throughout the plant operations and the business.  Driving for a zero-injury rate by establishing effective risk mitigation, and establishing proactive reporting practices.

Our customers and our people are the most important part of Unical, and this leader will ensure that we safeguard our most valuable assets. 

The Environmental, Health and Safety Leader will act as a partner with the leadership team in deploying and maintaining a world class EH&S program.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensures compliance with all Unical policies and procedures, along with all local, state, and federal governmental regulations.
  • Create and lead the implementation the cultural transformation of a EH&S within Unical
  •  Define and Drive improvements on key critical indicators of EH&S, such as On-job injury rate, near miss, and open reporting.
  • Works with business to identify all risks and develops preventive actions to ensure that all concerns are mitigated and effectively controlled.
  • Conducts audits to highlight areas of concern, performs track and trend analysis to determine high priority risk areas and drives six sigma methodology to develop CAPA.
  • Establish and drive accountable EH&S culture across the plant. Drive compliance and ownership at every level.
  • Lead employee formed EHS council.
  • Implements strategic EHS initiatives and drives improvements to successful conclusion on-time and on budget.
  • Maintain all EHS policies and procedures and drive a safety focused culture
  • Manager Worker’s Compensation
  • Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and conduct training as required
  • Conduct regular walk-through (Gemba) all areas of the company to ensure standards are being maintained.
  • Directs, develops and delivers environmental health and safety training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety Sciences, Engineering
  • 10+ years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Experience working in a LEAN or continuous improvement environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S
  • Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Certified (ASP/CSP), CHMM (certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CIH
  • Experience in Aviation and Engine MRO plant operations
  • Experience in building culture and accountability across a plant operation.
  • Dynamic leader who can energize the team.
  • Ability to problem solve, with knowledge of Shanin, Six Sigma, or other problem-solving methodology to deliver solutions and drive creative new ideas.
  • Expert written and verbal skills with ability communicate in a straightforward manner. Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.

Salary Range:  $95K-$110K.

Physical Demands:

  • Work Environment: 40% office, 60% shop floor(warehouse and aviation repair shop)
  • Lifting: Maximum 50 lbs.
  • Carrying, Walking, Pushing, Climbing, Reaching

Working Conditions:  This position works in an office, warehouse, and aviation repair shop environment.

Travel: Must be able to travel 25% of the time to Glendale & Mesa, AZ as well as San Bernardino, CA facilities.
